Mrs. Black went to Alaska this summer!!! Whoop whoop!!!

I finally visited the 50th state for me!!! I had been in every one except Alaska and so this summer I finally got to go...oh how AMAZING!!! I will be sharing many things with your children about that!!!  I saw glaciers, whales, moose, reindeer, bald eagles, salmon, and many beautiful snowcapped mountains!! Loved it all!!!

Registration was GREAT! I loved meeting you all!

It is always so very exciting to come to registration to find our where your new classroom is going to be and who the new teacher is. Our school was ready to greet everyone!  It is going to be a great year!!

Guest Reader

I was thrilled when a former student of mine, Nyamal Tuor, asked if she could read to my class on Valentine's Day.  She is a precious young lady and is now a junior in high school.  She did an amazing job and also talked to my students about character and integrity...just love her dearly!!!

A birthday celebration

We all enjoyed not only a great Valentine's Day treat with cards, but also Ally's birthday goodies...see how much she enjoyed it!!! We all did!!!

Mrs. Black had a great summer!!!

I have totally enjoyed my summer...went to the beach, to Disney World, played with my grandchildren, went to the library, played in the pool, flew to Annapolis to visit family and enjoyed the amazing weather...I also worked at school quite a bit to prepare for each of you!

Registration

It was great to see everyone on Registration night. Everyone seemed so very happy to be back in school and begin a new year. We have 18 children in our class this year and I'm so excited!

Mrs. Black's grandson, Garrett registers for Kindergarten.

Celebrate Literacy Winners

Our class wrote amazing books this year and I was very proud of all of them. However, two students were able to also receive awards from county and state level. Gracie Gibbs won a county award for her precious book "Freddy Flamingo goes to Hawaii". Caleb Thurman won a State Level Silver Award for his book...."My Special Brother". They were presented with their awards on Thursday night at Volunteer State. It was a special night. Gavin White and Megan Maynard came in 3rd and 4th from our school entries.

Memories

So who in the world would have thought that one day I would be teaching with two of my former students and in my grade
group nontheless. Here is a picture of Mrs. Hester and Mrs. Wilkinson along with another friend, Beth Brown when they were second graders in my classroom once upon a time. This is priceless to me and may I add...quite an honor...although it makes me feel a bit "old".
